Jeter the Red Sox? The story of displaced NFL players

by A Closer Look

How weird would this look to you?

We have seen this in many sports, legends finishing up their careers away from the places that made them legends.  Michael Jordan the Wizard.  Greg Maddux the Cub.  The above picture certainly stirs discomfort among all Bronx Bomber fans.  As unsettling as it might be to many, it happens often… especially in the NFL.

Below in no particular order are five NFL players who made a name elsewhere, but are not longer there.

1. Brett Favre

"I wonder if Jenn is thinking about me"

This guy is probably the most popular NFL player of the last 20 or so years.  He has the consecutive start record.  He hold numerous passer records.  He has a Super Bowl and MVP awards, he has it all.  However, Brett will always be a Packer.

Brett the Vike

His one year in New York had potential, but sputtered down the stretch.  His career as a Viking is a tale of two stories: 2009 and 2010.  One memorable and the other forgettable.  Despite his current “around the block” tour, you cannot forget what he accomplished nor what he once meant to the game.

2. Donovan McNabb

McNabb the Redskin

We won’t dwell on this much because we have talked about it all off season and regular season.  He OWNED the NFC East and the Redskins in particular.  The fact that he now leads this team is quite ironic.  To me its like he was the popular jock that always made fun of this one girl who never got attention, only to have him marry her in the end.

3. LaDanian Tomlinson

Another LT in NY

This guy was a beast in San Diego.  He is probably the best running back of his era. Check that, he is the BEST running back of his era and is showing no signs of slowing down.

4.  Randy Moss

Randy is not so Randy in Nashville.

He once said that he puts in a good effort half time time (or less) when he plays.  He said that once again the last two weeks with the Titans.

5. Terrell Owens

The T.Ocho show hasn't provided a .500 record in the Queen's City.

This guy was once the most fear receiver in the league.  Now, he makes money for playing on losing teams.  Yes, the popcorn has been stale.
