Albert Haynesworth is no Brett Favre. He can’t just shake off the loss of a close family member, in this case his brother, and play football. He’s an emotional man. He’s understandably having a tough time getting his head into football. If you’ve ever heard Mr. Haynesworth during an interview when he actually wanted to be interviewed, you know he can be rather eloquent. And that, along with his raw football ability and power, is what we know about him.
Don’t ever think this man is shallow. He may sound it at times, but he’s thoughtful and purposeful. The Redskins are purposeful too. They’re about to play a tough game against the Indianapolis Colts that could go a long way toward establishing them as members of the elite in the National Football Conference, at least from a wins and losses perspective. They could really use Mr. Haynesworth, but not if his head isn’t in the game fully. I trust Mike Shanahan – scratching Albert Haynesworth was the right thing to do. Nonetheless, it would be nice to know more about this decision.
