Plaxico Burress to the Skins, a possibility?

Without going into the specifics, should this be an option for the Washington Redskins?Plaxico Burress has been in prison for the better part of the last two years on gun charges he face while a member of the New York Giants. In less than a month, Burress will be a free man, and when he is should the Redskins go after him?

Assuming everything fell into place, the Redskins should absolutely go after him. The Giants released the wide receiver in April 2009, and barring a suspension from the league, he will be available for services.

We have discussed in lengths on the troubles facing the wide receiver group, adding Burress would significantly add a dynamic that would instantly give credibility to this offense. With a proven quarterback and experienced wide receiver in Santana Moss, potentially opposite to him, this would raise the Skins stock several notches.

While I think the addition of Plax would benefit any team (as long as he doesnt’ shoot himself in the leg again), I doubt that the Giants will let him slip past them. With Hixon aread out for the year, and Nicks injuring his knee this week, the Giants are in a spot where they need a skilled WR on their roster.

Plax will definitely have a suspension placed against him when he is released, so he will ride the bench for a while no matter who picks him up. Hopefully, he will be back to full stride soon.

He made a stupid mistake, but we have seen many pro athletes do the same and they are still playing (Vikings QB comes to mind). If you stop a minute and think about it the only person Plaxico hurt was himself. I have faith that he will be a better man after being locked up for two years. Sometimes you have to be knocked down in order to stand up and take the right path. I say Good luck with the Redskins Plaxico, show them you are back and you are ready to contribute 100%.
