The carnage begins: Colt is Cut

We have learned that Redskins back-up QB Colt Brennen has been released.  Brennen is a third year player out of Hawaii.  Brennen spent all of the 2009 season on the IR, after getting injured in the pre-season.  Brennen, thought never played a regular season game, gained cult status after having an impressive 2008 pre-season campaign.  His breakout game vs. the Indianapolis Colts in the Hall of Fame game and his game winning touchdown versus the New York Jets offered promised not to be fullfilled in D.C.

Brennen has had a tough pre-season for Mike Shanahan.  The practices that I watched, he was missing targets and having balls batted down constantly.

Earlier today, the Redskins traded Doug Dutch the the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for QB John Beck.  That was immediately seen as writing on the wall for Brennen.
