Mike Shanahan opened the presser by saying he knew what the first question people would be asking him. A no-brainer it was about Haynesworth. The responses Shanahan had for the questions he fielded were direct and concise. This was the first training camp I covered live but those who attend camp regularly said this was clearly a change from last year’s experience with Jim Zorn. Ashburn,VA – Fans flocked to Ashburn for the start of another training camp on last Thursday of August. Though expectations may be moderate, hope is particularly high among fans. “I think since they added onto the offensive line our chances are better than last year,” says Lorenzo Hill, a graduate student at the Virginia University of Lynchburg. Fansided goes to Redskins training camp

Today was the first day of training camp. The atmosphere was “mild”. The offense once again was obviously behind the defense. Here are the main pointers: Albert Haynesworth was not at practice. However he did emerge about two minutes towards the close of practice. He did some work on the side with trainers. Earlier today the reports were that Haynesworth failed the physical. Malcolm Kelly will miss first practice

Third year wide receiver Malcolm Kelly will miss the first day of practice at training camp due to a tweak in his hamstring he suffered at Donovan McNabb’s “hell week”.

A few notes heading into camp. Various reports confirmed Albert Haynesworth was at the Redskins facility today. Haynesworth reportedly met with head coach Mike Shanahan. Two notes worth mentioning: Haynesworth looked significantly “slimmer”. It remains to be seen if he is shape. He will still required to take a physical. That will determine if he is fit to play. The second item is he will not practice with the the first team heading into camp. That was stated and confirmed by Shanahan.
