Watching Trent Williams and his family celebrate his selection to become the newest Washington Redskin, did the Skins make the right call? For months I have been campaigning for Russell Okung. It was not till the last few weeks did I consider Trent Williams actually becoming a Redskin. I bought into the over all hype and ratings that Okung drew from scouts. The bottom line was, Williams moves better than Okung and is exactly what the Redskins need moving forward. The Redskins did not miss out on Okung, if they got what the needed from Williams.
The one knock I have been hearing all night on Williams is his ability to dominate. He is said to be capable of dominating superior players, but not going full force on the lesser ones. In the NFC East, there is nothing but top notch pass rushers, but Williams will need to be on the very top of his game. There are no freebies in the NFC East, or in the NFL for that matter. Should Williams be successful in DC, he will be guaranteed to be a legend. If he can successfully ward of the likes of a Justin Tuck or a DeMarcus Ware, he will one of the most feared tackles in the league.
