The Donovan McNabb trade has slightly calmed down, however, it will pick up exponentially at his press conference tomorrow at Redskins Park. Sports radio has been abuzz all day. Reactions left and right. People who are high on the trade, and people who feel it is the same old song. This much would be expected, as the Redskins have been quiet all off season. However, on a Sunday night, a huge blockbuster emerges from the the wires. Is this a quick fix? Is there a plan for the future in place? Do the Skins actually think they can win now? None of that is certain, but it is very much worth discussing popular opinions.
This Front Office Has Not Learned Anything
This whole off season, the Redskins have been unusually quiet. Now all of a sudden they pull off a trade with a division rival. Some fans are thinking that once again Dan Snyder is behind this. I have my own opinions on this, but the some of the general public and mainstream fan base feel this is all Snyder’s doing. Having Donovan McNabb would certain sell more jerseys, and die hard Snyder haters will quickly out the marketing possibilities.
This notion is not what everyone who is against the trade think, but it is one of the most extreme possibilities. I do believe that the front office will still go about the contract process with the same due diligence. Money will not be thrown at him, but he will get what a quarterback of his calibre deserves.
McNabb Is The Only Player The Skins Were Missing
Some fans feel that Jason Campbell left numerous points of the field last season. The 3,600 yards, the 20 touchdowns, the 15 interceptions…McNabb would taken that and raised. The Skins went 4-12 and certainly a QB like McNabb makes this team 3-4 wins better.
McNabb is certainly an upgrade over Campbell, but more attention to other areas of the team must be addressed: like the offensive line.
What is your take on the addition of McNabb?
