Vick To Stay In Philly

The Eagles will bring Michael Vick back next season, team sources said today.

Vick is currently third on the quarterback depth chart and is slated to earn $5.25 million in total salary. That salary would be an exorbitant amount for the Eagles to pay a third-stringer. But if he were to be the backup, Vick’s salary would not be significantly more than what otherNFL backup quarterbacks earn.

This will be interesting as the trade talks with McNabb continue.  It is my assumption that the keys are to be promised to Kevin Kolb, but now it looks like there may be competition should Donovan McNabb be dealt.

If/When McNabb goes, I do believe Kolb will start this season. That said. Since everybody has made up their mind that Vick is terrible, and can’t throw- and since he’s getting paid anyway- Remind me of the harm in Kolb & Vick COMPETING for the starter job. If Kolb is indeed the future, surely he can easily win the job. Why GIVE it to anybody? In Philly, you earn your keep.

I agree to what degree do you think this team will change? Will it benefit with addition by subtraction (subtraction being one of their best qbs ever)? Thanks! I appreciate the input.
