Is it baseball and their schedule or is Art Rooney trying to keep his Steelers and Ben Roethlisberger out of the limelight? Certainly having a clash between the last two Super Bowl Champions would be an interesting kick-off match up, but certain factors may be standing the way.
“We won’t be playing in New Orleans,” Rooney declared this afternoon. “We have to be home that weekend because of the baseball schedule. Unless they wanted to play us away three weeks in a row, and I don’t think they’ll do that.”
Playing three away games to start the season has been done before with teams anticipating a late opening to a new stadium. It is not surprising to hear that an owner does not want to start off his team with a three game away set to start things off, but when your star quarterback is currently in a quagmire of legal problems, you may be thinking he has other motives as well.
