Redskins fail to pull out upset; lose to Cowboys 6-7

AUTHOR: | IN: Redskins | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

Tony Romo has a few games every season where he plays horribly and then still manages to come back and pull out an ugly win. And Jason Campbell is brilliant at doing the exact opposite.

Champ Returning to FedEx

AUTHOR: | IN: Redskins | COMMENTS: None Yet

Tomorrow’s 1:00pm home game against the Denver Broncos will be filled with about as much drama as an Adam Sandler comedy, one of the stupid ones.  Sure, the Redskins have a lot of walking wounded.  And yea, Mike Williams, Clinton Portis, and Chris Cooley won’t play.  And of course, Champ Bailey returns to the team he felt disrespected him when, in actuality,  the Redskins didn’t have enough cap space to satisfy him.  That’s not exactly a compelling story line anymore.  Whether or not the Redskins will upset the Broncos is pretty compelling, I reckon. Who got the best end of [...]

Vick to Redskins in 2010?

AUTHOR: | IN: Redskins | COMMENTS: 13 Comments

You may have seen the Yahoo Sports article suggesting Michael Vick is not happy as an Eagle due to the role he’s played to-date.  No one with any drive and pride would be satisfied with such a limited and insignificant role.  Happy or not, the fact is, Vick got what he needed most – a chance to rejuvenate his career, get into playing shape, and showcase his skills in practice.  He actually got more than he needed, because he’s on the active roster of a winning team. Michael Vick is at the mercy of the Eagles this season and next.  [...]

D Hall: “Falcons’ Coaches Assaulted Me”

AUTHOR: | IN: Redskins | COMMENTS: 5 Comments

During the last two minutes of the first half of today’s Redskins – Falcons game, a scuffle broke out on the Atlanta Falcons’ sideline.  It started when the Falcons took exception to an out-of bounds hit LaRon Landry laid on Matt Ryan, the Falcons’ quarterback.  At the time, what was happening in the trenches was not totally apparent.  What was apparent was the fact DeAngelo Hall and other Redskins’ players came to the assistance of Landry, who was being grabbed and shoved by the Falcons’ players.  That’s a normal response by teammates. In a post-game locker room interview with Comcast [...]

Redskins-Falcons: Fat Lady Sings

AUTHOR: | IN: Redskins | COMMENTS: 16 Comments

Well well, the Redskins scored two touchdowns.  Who knew Todd Yoder could get his feet down in the corner of the end zone?  Instead of being routed, they fought back and scored 17 points.  Atlanta lost a challenge of the Yoder catch, so they were down to 2 timeouts.  More importantly, they clearly had lost momentum.  This game was suddenly fun to watch. The Falcons started their second drive of the half on their 27.  They had run only 3 plays in the 3rd quarter.  That LaRon Landry stop of Steckel in the 3rd quarter was looming large, real large.  [...]

Redskins-Falcons: End of 3rd Quarter

AUTHOR: | IN: Redskins | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Redskins received the second half kick-off – touch-back.  They only amassed 69 yards of offense in the first half; Atlanta amassed 288.   3rd and 5 – Campbell runs for 19 to the Skins’ 44.  Cartwright is carrying the rock.  My my, the Skins are moving the ball.  They’re in Atlanta territory – first and 10 on the 25.  Now Betts is toting the rock.  On a screen he ran for 25 yards, getting the ball to the Atlanta 5. From the Falcons’ 5 … Malcolm Kelly caught a pass on the 1.  Cartwright was then stopped at the [...]

Redskins-Falcons: End of 1st Half

AUTHOR: | IN: Redskins | COMMENTS: None Yet

The second quarter started with a sack of Campbell and a punt.  The punt bounced the Redskins’ way, but an unsportsmanlike penalty on Tryon gave Atlanta the ball on their 35.   They moved it to the Redskins’ 11 on a long run by Michael Turner, but Atlanta was called for holding.  What a break.  Two plays later the Falcons were called for a false start.  3rd and 17 – they ran a screen which got them to the Skins’ 49.  That’s where their drive stopped. The Skins got the ball on their 18 with 9:45 to go in the [...]

Redskins-Falcons: End of 1st Quarter

AUTHOR: | IN: Redskins | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Atlanta’s first drive started on its 27.  About 6 game minutes later, it was Atlanta 7 to 0.  Washington leads the league in preventing touchdowns in the red zone; Atlanta leads the league percentage-wise in scoring them.  The Falcons relied on misdirection, hard counts, etc. Washington’s first drive started on the 25 and ended 3 plays later on their 18.  A 3-man rush outplayed the Skins’ offensive line and sacked Campbell.  The Redskins’ O-line looked confused as to who to block.  The Falcon who got to Campbell simply out-hustled a guard.  It was ugly. The Falcons started their second drive [...]
