Allrighty then. Jason Campbell ended the first half with a 16.7 passer rating. As the FOX commentators pointed out, the Bucs allowed their previous three opposing QBs to achieve an average of 113+. Nonetheless, Campbell played well in the quarter and the Redskins came alive. The Skins’ defense has played great this quarter. They’re giving Josh Johnson a tough time. He looks a bit shook, though he is a cool customer. The dude can pass and can definitely run.
The Bucs are struggling as their offensive line is getting beat up a bit. I noticed the Skins put Santana Moss in to return a punt. That yielded nothing, but the bomb to Moss for 59 yards on first down did. With 1:22 to go, the Skins are up 16 to 10. More importantly, Campbell threw a sweet deep ball – perfect in fact. And, the Skins outscored the Buc 16 to 0.
I won’t retract what I said about replacing Campbell, because the first half was truly ugly. But, I’m glad to see JC pick up his game. I have to say Zorn’s decision to go for it on a 4th and 2 worked out. I understood the decision, as the Redskins were probably out of field goal range and their defense has been playing better and better as the game has progressed. One thing I noticed though – they’re having a tough time tackling the Bucs’ QB.
The Bucs have a 3rd and 3 on their 27.
