Redskins-Patriots – 2 minutes to go

Look out now – the Skins are moving.  They got the ball near their 40 and voila, several first downs in a row.  Jason Campbell is throwing lights out now.  From the Patriots’ 31 he tossed it into the end zone to Moss to no avail.  If that doesn’t work, just pick up 7 or 8 yards on a screen to Devin Thomas.  That’s the ticket.  A Patriot player is down.  Please Lord, don’t let him be seriously injured.  Thank you Lord it’s not a Redskin player.  Ah yes – Darius Butler – Stephon Heyer leveled him.  He’s okay.  Thank you Lord.

47 seconds and the Skins have two timeouts.  Mason ran for 7, getting another Redskins’ first down on the 14 yard line.  17 ticks, and it’s a false start penalty.  The Redskins are forced to take a timeout.  It’s 1st and 15 on the 19.  Campbell was just leveled, but not before he threw the ball to Ladell Betts who advanced the ball to the 8 yard line.  9 ticks to go.  The Patriots did it again – they let the Redskins line up and then called a timeout.

Here we go.  One last chance to score a touchdown rather than kicking a field goal.  Will they do it?  Can they do it?  They can, but they didn’t.  Another fade to Kelly that Campbell probably overthrew on purpose.

4 seconds left.  Dave Rayner ties the game up and just like that, the Redskins showed they could hang in there and compete even if if they did make more than their share of mistakes while the Patriots looked sharp.

17 – 17.  Go Skins!
