I think we already had two editions of the hogs, followed by the piglets. The patchwork line that dominated under Grimm's too-brief line coaching tenure was pretty impressive too. The dirtbags had their moments, when healthy. Jansen was no pushover at RT until the 2007 injury...being the team's best runblocker over the last decade, outside of Randy Thomas.

Mike Williams still has exciting ability, but I think right guard is a bigger problem this year, as Randy Thomas's health and play has been a disaster three of the last four years. Maybe if Williams bulks up to 500lbs we can just lay him across the gap between Rabach and Jansen. More seriously, to have a great line this year Thomas has to be his self of five years ago, a young guy such as Chad Rinehart has to step up, or one of these veteran right tackles needs to slide over. Or maybe we can just talk Pete into coming back to platoon with Randy... Rinehart is my favorite for the job though, because he's the only lineman other than Randy Thomas that is athletic enough to be a consistent, pulling run blocker, which is the whole point of the counter trey blocking that bugel is so famous for... That is the key ingredient Bugel has lacked in this go-around. So I think the 2009 Redskins will ride on Chad Rinehart development or Randy Thomas's health. If we have Williams or Jansen playing RG by midseason, like Fabini and Wade of past patchworks, this could be a very interesting year...
