Tuesday's Leftovers

As we begin to digest week 8, let’s start by saying it feels good to be 6-2 at the midway point.  In the back of our minds we have seen hot starts before (1996 and 2000 come to mind) , but something seems different this year, something special is going on with this team.  Before we look forward to Monday nights big test against the Steelers let’s check out some leftovers from the weekend.

Can we now admit how big of an asset Chris Samuels is?  Our line looked out of sync and sluggish against the Lions.  We can all now take a deep breath, as it appears he will play Monday night.

Who’s the better #89?  Steve Smith proved he is as agile as a cat, and our own Santana Moss is taking versatility to another level.

Looks like Jason Taylor will be sidelined for while, can we please let him rest for a couple games!  He hasn’t done much this season but when he’s healthy he can still make his mark.

Shawn Springs is also out for the Steelers game, it appears his strain is pretty serious, let’s hope he plays vs Dallas.

In case you missed it Jim Zorn is no pushover not only does he show Clinton Portis who’s boss, he also owns Ryan O’Halloran at his recent press conference, “are you OK?”

Some leftover morsels from the rest of the NFL:

Are the Cowboys really thinking of inserting Brooks Bollinger into the starting role?  Granted Brad Johnson (aka Noodle Arm) isn’t much better, but he is still gives them their best shot at winning.

Was it just me or did it seem like every 2 minutes a player from the Stellers vs. Giants game would go down.  They were really beating on each other, nothing wrong with some real physical football.

Joe Flacco does it all.  It was great to see the Ravens add a new dimension to their offense, watching Flacco stumble his way to a 43 yard catch thrown by Troy Smith was priceless.

Are the Titans really that good?  Well I had my doubts but after seeing them bust off 25 unanswered points against the Colts I am now a believer.
