Who Would You Vote For?

AUTHOR: | IN: Redskins | COMMENTS: 9 Comments

So I stole this picture from Matt Terl at the official blog, who credited it to the Orlando Sentinel. But I had to have the picture because while Matt’s article about the halftime interviews was good, I want to talk about something else.  Take a careful look at the pictures. Regardless of how you feel about the upcoming election (and for the purposes of full disclosure, I’m an Obama supporter), you seriously have to reconsider a vote for McCain when you see the way he is holding the football. Not only is Obama holding the ball like he knows how [...]

MNF Gets Political

AUTHOR: | IN: Redskins | COMMENTS: 7 Comments

As if pushing the World Series back wasn’t enough, we now have to deal with a political halftime show. It was announced earlier that Barack Obama and John McCain will bombard the MNF halftime show between the Steelers and Redskins, to make their final push a day before the election. They believe it will be the perfect scenario to help elevate their side into the lead.  After all, Monday night football, in the DC area, a night before the election, you can see why they wanted this. However sports and politics do not go together. Let us enjoy our football [...]

Portis is Mr. October

AUTHOR: | IN: Redskins | COMMENTS: 7 Comments

Clinton Portis has been officially named the NFC Offensive Player of The Month for October, an award he very much has earned. Portis carried the offense through October as he amassed 575 yards on 101 carries and hit paydirt 4 times. He continues to lead the NFL in yards gained (944) as the next closet player is Adrian Peterson (684) is a whopping 260 yards behind. Portis continues to prove his doubters wrong (*cough Mr. Best cough*) and often shows defensive lineman why he is the best blocking running back in the NFL. Give credit to the O line, and [...]

Hey Rookie: Where You At?

AUTHOR: | IN: Redskins | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

They were supposed to be our next great wide receivers, they were supposed to be the tall receiving threats Jason Campbell so desperately needed. Yet here we are entering week 9 and we haven’t heard much from this year’s second round picks. Devin Thomas and Malcolm Kelly were highly touted coming out of college, they were men amongst boys on the college playground. They both had tremendous talent and skill even though they were still relatively raw to the game. I remember draft day 08, a draft where I couldn’t contain my excitement as the Redskins drafted three receiving threats [...]

King Calls Portis High Maintenance

AUTHOR: | IN: Redskins | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

We are all aware of Peter King’s weekly MMQB, as he gives us his opinions from the week that was.  For the most part it’s a good read, but I am beginning to wonder if he has it out for our Skins.   Let’s go back to last week when King picked us to lose against the Lions.  He was the only one to pick against us, I can understand picking the Lions to cover but picking them to flat out win is insane.  Flash forward to Monday, King writes this in his weekly column: f. I know you love Clinton [...]

Tuesday’s Leftovers

AUTHOR: | IN: Redskins | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

As we begin to digest week 8, let’s start by saying it feels good to be 6-2 at the midway point.  In the back of our minds we have seen hot starts before (1996 and 2000 come to mind) , but something seems different this year, something special is going on with this team.  Before we look forward to Monday nights big test against the Steelers let’s check out some leftovers from the weekend. Can we now admit how big of an asset Chris Samuels is?  Our line looked out of sync and sluggish against the Lions.  We can all [...]

Shhhhhh! Campbell’s Streak Continues

AUTHOR: | IN: Redskins | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

As I sit here writing this remember, I am typing quietly for fear of jinxing number 17. Keep this between us, Jason Campbell (230 pass attempts) has a chance to break the great Bernie Kosar’s record for most pass attempts without an interception (308 pass attempts). A record Brett Favre could only dream of having. The fact is our young stud QB continues to prove everyone, including myself wrong as he takes the term protecting the ball to another level. If someone told me back in August that Campbell would have ZERO interceptions through the first eight games, I would’ve [...]

DW is my Beyatch

AUTHOR: | IN: Redskins | COMMENTS: None Yet

In a clear attempt to abuse my power, I wanted to take a moment and crow over my obvious domination of DW in all things fantasy football.  With two impressive victories this weekend (Thanks Peyton! You’re not *completely* useless after all!) I am now a solid three and one against him this year in our various leagues, including one particularly priceless game where I defeated him by a little over a tenth of a point. Dave, I’m sorry you never were able to master that “Fantasy Football for Dummies” book I bought you all those years ago.  Perhaps it’s time for you [...]

Redskins Avoid Upset; Advance to 6-2

AUTHOR: | IN: Redskins | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Thank goodness the Lions are as inept as advertised, because the Washington Redskins almost coughed up another loss against what is arguably the worst team in the NFL (Thanks Matt Millen!).  The Redskins looked like they were finally going to come out and blow someone away after running down the field with ease on the first drive of the game, but then familiar problems began to resurface.  An inability to get into the end zone forced the Skins to settle for a field goal after facing a first and goal on the 2 yard line, and even though the Lions offense went 3 [...]

5-2 and Forget the Rest

AUTHOR: | IN: Redskins | COMMENTS: 6 Comments

Whew…We tried to find a way to lose this game to a good team.  But we worked it out.  And the best part is that the Cowboys were humiliated by the Rams.  Let’s hope that will stave off some of the Cowboy morons from stopping by and spewing their crap (polite Cowboys fans welcome as always). Anyway, the way we played, we deserved to win by more.  Without the Portis fumble at the end and we’re taking a knee with a convincing victory.  I’m not going to get on Portis.  That was a great play to pop the ball out, [...]
