Attention Citizens: Snyder Hailed for Purchase of Radio Stations
Greetings citizens of Redskins Nation! I am here to happily announce that Dan Snyder and his
affiliates in the Ministry of Truth have purchased the remaining Sports stations within the DC area, including Sportstalk 980 which is often known for it’s scathing criticism of the Redskins ownership. You can read more about this triumphant event here.
This change will allow us all to benefit from having a closer connection with the team that outside, third parties could never hope to achieve. No longer will reporters and radio hosts have to dig to find a story; it will be now sent to them via courier every morning by the Ministry.
Rumors that Brian Mitchell and Rick “Doc” Walker have been siezed by the Ministry of Love and taken for re-education are grossly exaggerated. Representatives from the Snyder organization have stressed that nothing has been decided regarding the status of either of their shows. However, the Ministry of Love does want to stress that thoughtcrime is still a serious violation and that you should report any illegal activity to your local Party affiliate. Failure to Hail the Redskins or to demonstrate loyalty to the Redskins is now a crime punishable by death. Criticizing any member of Redskins management is now a crime punishable by death. We want to take this opportunity to remind you that Dan Snyder loves you and wants you to be happy.
Thank you and have a nice day.

June 7th, 2008 at 10:46 amRG, I promise from here on out not to “attack” you. I have come to accept you and what you are about, and at the same time I just wanted you to know that I do have an ounce of wit. I will go ahead and admit, you have it as well. This post scares the shit out of me, and I hope you take me off that hitlist of yours. I don’t want to be a sacrifice of the Ministry, because I will never Hail To The Redskins. Now I know why you are the way you are RG, because if you were’nt,
“Oh my god!!!”

“Those bastards!!!”
I love this story. A hometown radio station calls it like it is instead of jerkin off the owners like everyone else in town, and big bad dan snyder can’t take it so he buys up the station. Wonder if there are some guys over at Sportstalk 980 who will be out of a job this summer.
June 8th, 2008 at 9:41 pmThanks for the post Steam. I look forward to sharing our collective wit in more constructive ways. I can’t promise I won’t zing the Cowboys, because I will, but as you can see even my own beloved Redskins are not above the occasional jab.
June 9th, 2008 at 12:37 amGlad to hear your thoughts thembIIIeffect. We’ll have to see what happens to the guys at Sportstalk 980. Despite my rather harsh criticism, I sort of feel for the Danster but I don’t like the solution he came up with. I will have to admit, from my biased perspective, that sometimes I found 980 to be a bit of a downer because they (well some people anyway)were ALWAYS so critical of the Redskins.
I just wish there was a happy medium we could find. We shouldn’t have to worry about an Orwellian nightmare, but nor should we have to read Sally Jenkins write YET ANOTHER piece of hate mail disguised as a sports column. Or hear Doc Walker rant on about how terrible things are over and over again. What the hell is wrong with loving your team and wanting them to succeed? Why can’t the local papers and radio stations cheer for the local team too?
It’s bad enough that our team might fail without some of the people in 980 and the Washington Post HOPING we’ll fail. I actually preferred Redskins Radio to Sportstalk 980, but I liked having the choice. Now I’m going to get the party line no matter where I go.
June 9th, 2008 at 12:49 amJust to share, there’s a fun debate going on at our friends in arrowhead addict. Come join in and mock the cowboys and Landry Hat! The picture alone is pure awesome.

I have been reading the comments on the Chiefs site and Dan’s site, and if anything else, it is funny as hell. You have to admit that the Chiefs fans are some of the most prideful fans around here. I don’t want to be involved in it too much because I think everything that could have been said to back up both sides has been said. I have nothing against the Chiefs or their fans and I just want to keep it that way, especially after the way us two kicked things off over there.
Cooley and Portis fit in there too (top 10), but when you look at it as past stats, some of these guys are looking at Madden ratings, fantasy football rankings, you’ve just got to draw the line somewhere and let these guys prove it on the field.
I play fantasy football, and I will say if any TE was available when I was ready to draft a TE, I would draft Witten, BUT I AM A COWBOYS FAN! WR, I would choose T.O., QB, I would choose Romo. RB, I would choose Tomlinson. I don’t think too many would argue with Tomlinson. Maybe if you’re a Minnesota fan.
To have an unbiased opinion of it, someone should put a poll in the NFL General section of Fan Sided Forums where everyone can see it and vote. Every team’s fans can vote Barber or LJ, Witten or Gonzo. I would be interested in the result of that. I don’t know how to start a poll, but I am going to put it in as a suggestion. You guys help me out and we’ll find out everyones opinion on the current dilemma between Cowboys fans and Chiefs fans. Who knows, maybe in the end you will have another good outburst of Disney photoshop pics to laugh at. How embarrassing.
There is a suggestions area at the top of the board index of Fan Sised Forums. I am going to put that in as a suggestion. If you guys would, put something up there also. Maybe we can get it kicked off. You’ve got the hook-up RG, get er’ done!
June 9th, 2008 at 10:35 amHow much does it cost to read something new on here RG?

Sorry, the Redskins don’t have the advantage of hitting the police blotter on slow news days
June 9th, 2008 at 12:45 pmWell if you’re bored TD, I could always take some cheap shots at the Cowboys
The price of a new article is a little patience and a newsworthy event that matters to Redskins fans. Shockey’s hissy fit doesn’t quite cut it.
Still if you’re desperate to read something new, KSK has a funny article on Shockey’s veiled threats. Go read it if you like. http://kissingsuzykolber.uproxx.com/2008/06/oh-no-jeremy-please-don%e2%80%99t-hold-out.html
June 9th, 2008 at 1:03 pmJeffxandra (what the hell does that mean)
Good one, the old police and criminal comments. Maybe if you did some reading youll notice that every NFL team has criminals and players getting arrested but NOT the cowboys. Your prolly just one of those old salty skins fans whos only comeback to why we run the rivalry is that we have criminals. Sorry but dont see any headlines about the Cowboys getting arrested for drunk driving or assault charges. Maybe you can count how many times Fred Davis sleeps in. Thats always fun to read
RG thank you for the reading material. Nothing like watching another Giant Cry about stuff
June 9th, 2008 at 1:29 pmGot the polls started RG. Check out your fan forum. Portis and Cooley are choices. I have already put the poll post in the forum for every team in Fan Sided Forums. Take the poll.
There are two polls. 1 for RBs and 1 for TEs. Help spread the word.
June 9th, 2008 at 1:57 pmIn the interest of full disclosure, I’ll point out that Jeff is a stinking Ravens fan. So he knows firsthand about the police blotter.
June 9th, 2008 at 8:44 pmGreat polls Steam. I have to admit, I was tempted to slip a vote to Portis, but my own Code of Honor wouldn’t let me do it. I think Portis is great, but can’t quite squeak into the top five. I’ll try to find some time to post an article about this soonish, but I’d encourage everyone to go vote!
June 9th, 2008 at 8:46 pmI was the same way RG. I had a hard time with that #5 back, and I just couldn’t see Barber being there…yet. This could and should be a better debate next year. Imagine that! Bring out Dumbo, Mickey, Donald and every other Disney character. It looks like it’s only begun.
June 9th, 2008 at 9:47 pmYea this is the first offseason in awhile that I can remember that TO has been relatively quiet. Pretty boring if you ask me. He needs to start “stirring the pot” if you will.
June 10th, 2008 at 10:31 amSpeak of the devil. Apparently he’s under suspicion of taking steroids. Go figure.
June 10th, 2008 at 6:10 pmCan you provide more information on this for the rest of us far-away (Europe) NFL fans?
March 23rd, 2009 at 8:30 amI apologise if the nature of the post caused some confusion over what was real and what was simply tongue in cheek. In the DC area, there was originally one option for sports radio: Sportstalk 980.
Then a year ago or two ago, Mister Snyder created three radio stations that would carry Redskins Radio. At that point there was a nice balance. Sportstalk 980 had a lot of disgruntled former Redskins players such as Brian Mitchell and Doc Walker who were very outspoken in their criticism of the current ownership. Redskins Radio was a lot more favorable to the current regime obviously. It was nice to be able to hear both perspectives.
Then Mister Snyder purchased Sportstalk 980. I didn’t particularly like the hater-fan attitude of 980, but I liked to have an option that wasn’t owned by the actual team.
To be fair, in the months since I wrote this article, Sportstalk 980 hosts haven’t been turned into mouthpieces for the organization; there is still plenty of criticism to be heard. But nobody can say the change in ownership didn’t have an impact on the material that it put on the air.
Make more sense? Let me know if you have any questions.
At the time, however, it did seem like he was attempting to monopolize the local market.
