Free Safety Schweigert signs with Redskins

Posted by: guyskins

The Washington Redskins signed free agent Stuart Schweigert yesterday.  You probably haven’t heard of him because he played for the Raiders, but he was a starter there until last year.  He’s apparently thrilled to leave the Raiders, and rightfully so.  “It feels like a thousand-pound bear’s been lifted off my chest,” Schweigert said.  He probably should have simply asked Warren Sapp to get off him, but I can understand why he’d want to leave the Raiders.

In four years, Schweigert has accumulated 316 tackles and 4 interceptions. This is hardly anything to get too excited about, but he’ll add depth to a position that needs it.  Sean Taylor’s death was a terrible blow on so many levels, and nobody is going to ask people to fill his shoes, but someone has to start now that he’s gone.  It’s always good to have more options.

What do the Cowboys have anything to do with this blog. Schweig adds some great depth and experience to the safety position

It’s a position of need, and therefore it’s a good thing. Apparently some other teams wanted him and he came to us, which is also a good thing.

I just got through talking with a friend of mine who is a Raiders fan and he was disappointed that the Raiders had let him go. He said he really liked his play. I will admit that I do not watch the Raiders play a great deal. While I am aware of Schweigert, and have seen him play…I just don’t know much about him.
He gives us depth at Safety, and has some starting experience, which has to count for at least something. More competition at a position that needs it can’t be a bad thing. This is one of position battles that I will certainly have my eye on throughout training camp.

redskinsguy, look in the left column and click on the blue and white MOCK DRAFT database, there is an NFL trivia game in there that is a timed qiiz, vheck it out it’s kind cool, I have the current high score in there…also let me extend a welcome for you to visit my Redskins site on myspace…
myspace.com/fight4olddc I still don’t have it anywhere near what I want it to be but it is a start anyway. I have been somewhat lazy about blogging in there because nobody knows about it. If word gets out and Redskins fans come, I will do the “deed.”
The invitation is extended to all Redskins fans!
As always, Hail to the Redskins!

There’s definitely some cool stuff in the Mock Draft Database. Some of it is obviously dated but it’s worth checking out. I’ll be sure to look up your myspace page too. Thanks for sharing!

At least he never tried to “make it rain” at a strip club and caused a riot.

Lmao, Pacman jokes will never get old. I thought about calling the John Riggins show the other day and tell him I would like to spend the night out on the town with Pacman to see how to really party.

You should! Let us know what he says!
