redskinguy, i really do feel you bitterness about this, i too, would be bitter if something as you suggested about our logo was done from underhanded means. back in those days rivalries were bitter and it was amusing to see how they fought with each other, back in the day before you just sued the hell out of eachother and the damn lawyers were the only ones to get rich on the deal. i really hate the skins, but damn, i LOVE the rivalry we’ve always had. thank you guys and all the great skin players for makin it the greatest rivalry in football history and maybe in all of sports. us cowboy fans love to hate ya and we know the feeling is mutual, but man it it great?????

Dave, you’re more or less accurate. I still maintain that if you "buy the rights out from underneath the bastards" that’s stealing the rights. If someone bought the rights to the Dallas Cowboys logo and took it away from you, I daresay you’d consider it theft even if it was legally done.

correct me if i’m wrong, but i beleive that clint murchinson, the former owner of the cowboys bought yhe rights to the redskin fight song. he acctually was said to have bought the copy rights to the melody (if that’s the right word) and then all renditions and lyrics were copyrighted under that song became his property. he then could determine where and when that song was to be played. the rumour was said, that he got tired of hearing the thing every time he came to rfk and the skins scored. a member of his game party said, "hell, clint buy the rights out from underneith the bastards and you won’t have to listen to it again." clint said, "i did’nt know you could do that, but if i can, i’ll pay big money to get er done." well the rest is in the lores of history. and i believe it was kent cooke that bought the rights back from the murchinson family????? don’t qoute me here, but i think it went something like that. so it really was’nt a stolen issue.

And yes, Dan, you did steal our fight song. The fact that it was legally done doesn’t mean it wasn’t underhanded extortion and theft of what rightfully belonged to the Washington Redskins. The only concession I’ll make is that I might be slightly biased on this issue.
