No Thanks, Then

Posted by: daveskins

Anyone who has been tracking my obsession with Chad Johnson knows I’m convinced, convinced we can have for a second round pick and we would be insane not to offer it.  Well, Floyd Reese on ESPN’s Sportscenter said he would be willing to offer a 1st and a 2nd for Chad and he wouldn’t be surprised if someone offered that or at least two 2’s.  Screw it, then.  I don’t want him.

However, Reese might be a former GM for a reason, and Drew Rosenhaus definitely seemed convinced that the Bears or Redskins would make an offer that would pry Johnson from the Bengals.  You can say that Drew is just trying to drum up a market from nowhere, but this is the kind of thing he has done for many clients.  Who can forget the way he created a market out of nowhere for an injured Willis McGahee?

At any rate, I’m still holding firm to the 2nd round pick price tag.  But if some team really offers a 1st and a 2nd, god bless them, I guess. Ocho or no Ocho, it is going to be a great draft for us.  Lots of picks and no need to force ourselves into making a bad pick.  Can’t wait!

Keep our picks, don’t trade the farm for this fine receiver (who is, otherwise, a prima dona headache).  I doubt a second round pick is close to what Cincy can get for him.  But, if other teams do not work out a trade, and we are able to get him for a reasonable trade (ie a 2nd rnd and 1 3rd rnd), then consider it – but only in light of all the needs and who the Redskins still have their board of needs.  Maybe a 2nd this year and something in 2009 draft?

you guys really think you’ll get cinco cry cry for a 2nd rnd pick???????? why don’t you guys just offer them your #1, you guys have never had a problem in the past trading away draft picks for players? no way in hell cinncy parts with him for a 2nd. it’ll take a first and then some.

We do have an extra third round pick. I don’t know if a 1st and a 3rd would be too bad.  There’s a decent chance we’ll be drafting a wideout with our first round pick anyway.  Chad would be less of a gamble than some rookie that falls to us.  I don’t know. I keep flip flopping.  I really don’t want to see the Eagles or Cowboys get him.

The winner would have to offer at least a 1st round pick, probably more than, to get him. No way he goes for a 2nd rounder. Rosenhaus has been trying to wheedle the Bengals’ demands down, but I don’t see it happening.

Skins fans FORGET about Chad! Think about this, your biggest problem has been that you throw away draft picks for big names. Sometimes it pays off and sometimes it doesnt. But Skins fans everywhere are tired of it and it has been voiced that the Skins need to draft for the future. WHICH MEANS ACTUALLY DRAFTING WITH ALL your PICKS. So i don’t think Jim Zorn is gonna wanna fall into that trap of dishing out money for a Big Name like Everyone else did, and then get bashed for it later. If Zorn is gonna save your franchise then hes gotta draft his guys. Yes CHAD is tempting but fellas you need youth, so put your picks down and use them for the Draft.
