Free Pac Man!
In honor of Pac Man Jones applying for re-instatement today, we link to this classic from The Onion from over 5 years ago. Long before Jones made it rain, the NFL had an “image problem.” Get over it NFL, and let him back in.

I really don’t get why nobody except the cowboys have any interest in Pac Man at all. Is it just the PR? Maybe they know something we don’t.
April 14th, 2008 at 10:27 pmWell you know I’ve been on this from the beginning so I don’t understand it. But to be fair, not only has he been arrested 13 times, he sat out a year. I can’t think of a person who sat out a year for reasons other than injury that has made it back to play at a high level. Mike Williams and Maurice Clarett are the last to try, but there are others. Losing touch with the NFL training regime seems to really hurt these guys. Deion Sanders is really the only person who did it that I can think of and he came back to play a nickel role.
I still think he’s worth a low round pick to find out what he has, but I can see how that is in the equation.

April 14th, 2008 at 10:53 pmMy personal opinion is that Pac Man’s got serious issues and probably needs professional help. That said, I think he can still play better (regardless of circumstance) than say DeAngelo Hall
April 16th, 2008 at 2:47 pmI’m wondering why he changed his mind about petitioning for reinstatement. Methinks someone told him he would be denied unless he waited a little longer.
April 16th, 2008 at 6:38 pmI think that he’s trying to use not applying for reinstatement as leverage in getting traded. He wants to get out of Nashville and being reinstated increases their ability (though they don’t want him) to demand more for him.
