There’s a new training technique that will have your defensive ends get ripped! It builds endurance, burns fat, and one of the best defensive players of his generation endorses it. Is it the bowflex? No. Pilates? No. Steroids? No. Well yes, but I said it was new people. Pay attention. What is this new technique?
You think I’m kidding, but listen to the words of Jason Taylor: “I’ve gained muscle weight, and lost a lot of fat. You can’t ask for more than that. I’m ripped. And like I’ve been saying, people keep questioning whether I should miss off-season workouts or whether I’ll be ready next season. But I will be ready.”
OK, I’m mostly kidding. But it actually does amaze me that he has gained muscle weight. It makes sense that he lost fat. DE’s tend to work out in ways that allow them to work in 5-10 second bursts over and over. The more consistent cardio work I’m sure helps someone even in the condition that Jason Taylor has always been in. But muscle building? Really? Throwing around his partner who looks like she weighs 80 lbs soaking wet is building muscle? I’m a tad incredulous.
But really, if I can build muscle and burn fat by spending my day with a dancer, sign me up.
And Coach Hastings (our strength coach), I suggest you get a couple of cheerleaders and get Philip Daniels, Andre Carter, and the gang working on their hip action.
