Sean Taylor Trial Delayed

AUTHOR: daveskins | IN: Redskins | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

I hesitated to even post this because I am not one of those “eye for an eye” types, but it seemed impossible to host a Redskins website and not post it.  The trial of the four kids who allegedly killed Sean Taylor has been delayed until August.
Personally, I don’t really care what happens to these guys.  It won’t bring Sean back, and from the looks of it, these were guys in way over their heads and they didn’t really have any intention of killing anyone.  I’m not saying they should walk the streets totally free, but I just can’t summon [...]

Your Last Place Dallas Cowboys

AUTHOR: daveskins | IN: Redskins | COMMENTS: 8 Comments

Big rumor from sister site Phin Phantic.  According to ace blogger Brian, Tony Romo decided that he was willing to suck if it meant Jessica regularly…well this is a family site.  But you get what I mean. Tony And Jessica “Chicken of the Sea” Simpson have been secretly married.
The biggest distraction since girls started wearing low rise pants with thongs didn’t confirm she was married to the Roger Staubach wannabe, but according to AZ central.com Jessica’s mom told the press they were married while she and Jessica were coming out of a Chili’s.
Actually, I think it is funnier that Jessica still eats at [...]

Redskins Get Opener

AUTHOR: daveskins | IN: Redskins | COMMENTS: 13 Comments

The Washington Post just announced via Jason LaConfora’s blog that the Redskins will open the NFL season against the Giants in the Meadowlands on Sept. 4th. This is the second time in a just a few years that the Skins have opened the season with the special Thursday opener and both times against a New York team.
I’m personally excited that the league has seen fit to show off the Redskins team in both the Hall of Fame game and the season opener.  It is clear that the franchise is starting to gain back the respect it lost in the early [...]

Reche, We Hardly Knew Ya

AUTHOR: daveskins | IN: Redskins | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

ESPN reported that free agent WR Reche Caldwell signed with the Rams. I can’t say it really hurts the team that much to lose Reche.  He had a couple of key catches down the stretch but really hadn’t gotten into the receiving rotation much by the end of the year.
The biggest blow is kinda to my pride. Realistically, Caldwell was our number 3 receiver and I can’t see him being better than the 4th receiver in St. Louis. It can’t be the money since he’s only getting a one year deal worth $654,000.  Essentially, I think he thought he’d be happier [...]

And the Winner Is…

AUTHOR: daveskins | IN: Redskins | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

…Mario Manningham.  As mentioned, ESPN SportsNation is doing a mock draft and while the vote is technically not over for the Redskins there is a clear winner in the form of Mario Manningham, WR from Michigan.
What?  Not that I don’t think Manningham is talented.  And frankly, if we went that way, I’d be secretly excited.  But in what way does Manningham fit this team’s needs?  He is 6′ 0″with decent but not overwhelming speed.  He is quick and does have a “second gear” for the deep ball.  But essentially, he is a slightly taller Antwan Randle El.
And lets consider two other [...]

Pay Attention John Hastings!

AUTHOR: daveskins | IN: Redskins | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

There’s a new training technique that will have your defensive ends get ripped!  It builds endurance, burns fat, and one of the best defensive players of his generation endorses it.  Is it the bowflex?  No.  Pilates?  No. Steroids?  No.  Well yes, but I said it was new people.  Pay attention.  What is this new technique?
Mambo!
You think I’m kidding, but listen to the words of Jason Taylor: “I’ve gained muscle weight, and lost a lot of fat. You can’t ask for more than that. I’m ripped. And like I’ve been saying, people keep questioning whether I should miss off-season workouts or [...]

Be Counted

AUTHOR: daveskins | IN: Redskins | COMMENTS: None Yet

ESPN’s SportsNation has been doing a fans’ mock draft over the last week and the Redskins will be on the clock today at 5 PM eastern.
I don’t normally tell you to go to another site just to do a poll.  That’s like taking a vacation to Cancun and saying, “Naw, I don’t like Tequila.  I’ll just have a Coke.” But this seems worth doing because it is probably one of only two polls that might hit the radar of Vinny Cerrato and Dan Snyder. As much as I flatter myself, I doubt that hit I get from Ashburn, VA on occasion is Danny checking [...]

Bad 49ers, Bad

AUTHOR: daveskins | IN: Redskins | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

The 49ers are being fined for tampering with Chicago Bear’s linebacker Lance Briggs.  According to the report, the 49ers contacted Briggs in the middle of potential trade talks between the two teams about a potential contract extension.
The 49ers are forfeiting their 5th round pick, and swapping 3rd rounders with the Bears. To my knowledge, this is the first time a team has been penalized since th eleague announced it was going to get harsher with the tampering rules earlier this year.
I’m all for enforcing the rules, and it appears that the 49ers cooperated with the investigation fully which essentially means [...]

Pacman Fever

AUTHOR: daveskins | IN: Redskins | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Great column from Pat Yasinskas of ESPN on who might want to trade for Pac Man Jones. I only have one thing to add.  Why aren’t we thinking about this?  Isn’t this exactly the kind of thing a successful organization looks into?  I know.  You guys think I’m crazy.  I want Chad Johnson and Pac Man Jones and earlier I wanted the Skins to go after Tank Johnson right out of prison.
But come on.  How does an oranization succeed whether it is business or sports?  They buy low and they sell high.  They exploit talent and resources where others are afraid [...]

Johnson Skipping All the Way to Washington?

AUTHOR: daveskins | IN: Redskins | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

ESPN reported today that Chad Johnson is skipping Bengals off season workouts to protest the way he is treated by the team and to underline his desire to play somewhere else.
All I have to say is keep on keeping on, Chad.  I know most of my fellow bloggers have posted that they don’t want Chad Johnson.  And I know some of you have commented here that you don’t want him, and it boggles my mind, personally.  Imagine this from the point of view of Jason Campbell for a moment.  Let’s say that you are a young QB in the NFL.  [...]
