Super Bowl ZZZ…
Let’s face it. Any team representing the NFC other than the Redskins is less exciting than if it was us. But the Giants? This isn’t even about my distaste for a division rival. It is about my distaste for the inevitable “storylines” that the press will lazily dream up. For the next two weeks we will be inundated with only two stories- the perfect season and Eli Manning in the Super Bowl.
Admittedly, this is better than the Brett Favre send off stories which would have been even worse, especially since I don’t believe he’d retire even if he won it all, but seriously could we get a more boring matchup than a game where one team had to play its best game all season just to come kinda close to winning? At least the Packers hadn’t lost to the Pats yet.
I guess it is my obligation as a football fan to watch, but I’m just hoping the commercials will be good this year. Considering they haven’t been for years, later this week I’m going to give my “rules for advertisers hoping to avoid sucking.”
In the meantime, I’m going to watch soccer and dream about spring training. Oh, and the draft, of course.

Your irrational hatred of Brett Favre notwithstanding, a Packers-Pats suberbowl rematch would have been SOOO much better. Now I have to root for the freaking Giants again. I feel dirty.
