You have to take this with a grain of salt but Redskins.com has this quote from Coach Gibbs regarding Jason Campbell:
“I think this week he has had a little different presence in practice based off of what he did Monday night,” Gibbs said. “I think he made some real good plays. We all saw the way he played. Anytime you do that, it kind of lifts you.”
First off, if this is true, that totally rocks. When I read a quote from a coach like this, though, I usually assume that the player in question is the same as he always was, but that the COACH has a new view of the player. Either way, whether it is coach who has more confidence in our young QB or our young QB is feeling good, this can only help. It is clear from the TD ratio I talked about in the last post that we need to pass a little more often to improve that ratio and this will give everybody the confidence to go ahead and do it.
In other news, the same article mentions that Fred Smoot is questionable for the Giants game. This is not ideal but ok. The Giants aren’t deep at WR, and Smoot is too short to line up against Plaxico Burress. The secondary didn’t miss a beat without him last week. I wouldn’t worry too much about it.
Looks like we’re going into the game pretty healthy everywhere but the o-line.
