Today we’re waiting on the news of the final roster. Redskins.com has a list of guys on the bubble who have impressed. You figure almost all of these guys will be on the roster or the practice squad. The guys who run the site probably talk to the staff and work this out ahead of time so they don’t embarrass anyone.
While these guys are nervously fighting for their lives, I’m still basking in the glow of our preseason victory. Yes, I said, victory. First, I always only count the first half in preseason. Second, the victory is that we got off the field with no new injuries and Jason Campbell looked like a veteran.
I know he was going against only some of the Jags 1st string D, but Campbell did exactly what you’d expect of a veteran QB in that situation. Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Peyton Manning either all skipped the 4th game or played one series just like Campbell. And they all had similarly solid results in there last series.
Campbell’s 5 for 5 surgical strike showed he has improving accuracy and growing confidence. All a sign of good things to come. And we should have all 22 offensive and defensive starters lined up for the Dolphins. Yipee!
Now, if we could only keep a roster of 75 like in the gold old days. We’ll give you an analysis of the cuts as they come in, but probably not until Tuesday because everyone is gone (including me) for Labor Day. Enjoy the weekend folks. Summer is passing, fall is coming. There is football in the air!
