The glass is half-empty over at the Post lately. Jason La Canfora’s article in the Post today essentially says the same thing an article from Redskins.com said a few days ago. That is that Jason Campbell will play on Thursday if he’s healthy. But these were the headlines:
Post- Campbell Says He’s Willing, but Is His Knee Able?
Redskins.com- Campbell Says He’s Ready to Play
What’s up with all the gloom, Post? Both articles quote Coach Gibbs saying Campbell will only play if he’s 100%. Both articles quote Campbell saying the knee is still sore. Both quote Campbell talking about how important it is to establish a rhythm with the receivers before the season starts.
And the Post articles includes this little tidbit: “When told of Gibbs’s remarks Campbell said, “Oh, I’ll be 100 percent by Thursday.”
In other words, Campbell is chomping at the bit to play and is willing to play through a bit of pain. that’s great. Stop worrying, Post. He’ll be fine.
Bet on Campbell to play on Thursday, but if he doesn’t, don’t take it as a sign of anything but erring on the side of caution. Campbell is ready to go right now, and if the regular season was starting today, you can bet he’d be out there.
