Whew! We Made it!

To be honest, I didn’t see the game on Saturday.  Between the weather delays and family obligations I just didn’t fit it in.  But even if I had seen it my response would have been the same– Woohoo! We made it through the game without a significant injury, we put a pass longer than 10 yards on film for other teams to be concerned with, and we won.  Nice night all around as far as I’m concerned.

Given the weather, the spate (do American’s ever use the word spate anymore except when talking about injuries?) of injuries we’ve already suffered, and the physical nature of our scrimmage with the Ravens earlier this year, all bets were off. Instead, some of the young guys have the memory of a game winning forced fumble and TD dancing in their heads to build confidence and everybody who was out of the training room still is.  And the news gets better.

Redskins.com reported that Jason Campbell will likely startthe final preseason game against the Jags. No word yet on whether Chris Samuels will meet his goal of also starting against Jacksonville, and despite his practicing in pads this week, we probably won’t see Clinton Portis until open week at best.  Still, we’re rounding into shape at just the right time. Given the nature of the 4th preseason games for most teams, it is likely we only have to get through one more crucial quarter at most to get roughly the team we expected in June to line up against Miami.

Whew! We made it! Almost…
