Campbell Conversation and Game Night
Not a lot going on news-wise since we’re playing the Ravens tonight. But there is a good chat on Extreme Skins with Jason Campbell. The questions were pretty mundane but Campbell answered them with some flair.
Can I make one request of folks on these chats from now on? Can we please stop asking the charcoal vs. propane question? First off, it doesn’t really reveal anything about a person’s character or personal tastes. Outside of Hank Hill no one really takes more than 10 seconds to think about this stuff in their whole lives. Second, rich football players don’t cook! These are young men who have had their meals made for them their whole lives. Even in college they had to eat at the training table. Now, they have money, more interesting things to do, access to nutritionists and personal chefs, not to mention girlfriends, wives, mothers, friends, and a telephone book. Yeah, I’m guessing a couple of them decide to have a big BBQ pit or something and they have summer cookouts and stuff. But you really are better off not making them lie to you and pretend to lead normal lives like you or I do. OK, sorry for the rant, but it bugs me.
Speaking of things that bug me, Campbell brings up that Brandon Lloyd is actually working during practice now. And he brings it up as though it is just a good thing. He totally forgives him for tanking all last year. This is now the third Redskin (along with Sean Taylor and Rocky McIntosh) that I have read about that admitted to trying harder this year. What the heck is going on people? Can we please ask for you to work hard for your millions? Is that too much to ask for the hundreds of bucks we give Dan Snyder every Sunday? One thing is if you have distractions and life stuff on you like Marcus Washington and Joe Salavea did last year. Another is if you just didn’t feel like it which is what Lloyd and McIntosh seem to have admitted.
OK, you’re on the team. You’re trying this year. I’ll still cheer for you. But I wish I knew last year so I could have laid into you.
Ravens game tonight features something like 6 starters out. My personal goal is to try to go home today with no more injuries and not losing by more than a TD. Anything else is a bonus. Please, please, please no injuries.
Enjoy the game, folks, if you can. I might have to watch it with my eyes closed.
